An introduction to the sound of Direct Sound Records

Sampler 2026 brings together four selections from the label’s first two albums. The programme compares two ensembles and two acoustic landscapes: the flute and guitar of the Ferraguto Fortunato Duo in music by Ennio Morricone and Astor Piazzolla, and the piano four hands of Alessandra Felice and Loretta Proietti in Brahms and Rachmaninov.

The collection provides a concise way to hear how the label approaches performer presence and spatial depth while preserving the distinctive character of each session.

The source recordings originated in stereo DSD128. Tracks from Atmosfere come from a Pure DSD128 – Analog Mixed production; those from Resonances from a Pure DSD – Direct Mixed production. The sampler is supplied in DSD128 and PCM 88.2kHz · 24bit.
