Piano four hands as a space for dialogue

Resonances spans almost a century of French, German and Russian repertoire, entrusted to one instrument and two performers. Alessandra Felice and Loretta Proietti create a continuous dialogue in which rhythmic precision, balance between voices and freedom of phrasing turn the piano four hands into a small orchestra.

From the fairy-tale transparency of Ravel’s Ma mère l’Oye to Brahms’s 16 Waltzes, Op. 39, the programme alternates miniatures with broader structures. Debussy’s Petite Suite, Poulenc’s Sonata and the Scherzo from Rachmaninov’s Six Morceaux, Op. 11 complete a journey rich in colour, dance and timbral invention.

Recorded in Arcinazzo, Italy, Resonances originated in stereo DSD128 and is classified as Pure DSD – Direct Mixed. The project relies on microphone placement, room interaction and signal coherence to define the soundstage while retaining the dynamics and the real character of the instrument.
