Synths on Tape by Andrea Valfrè is an electronic music project that revisits the futuristic and dystopian atmosphere of 1980s independent cinema through themes by John Carpenter and Vangelis alongside original compositions. It is available in two clearly distinct editions: Masterclone 24K GOLD CD™, Velut Luna’s physical Reference Edition, and a Hi-Res File 88.2kHz • 24bit.

Masterclone 24K GOLD CD™ — Reference Edition

Masterclone 24K GOLD CD™ represents the Reference level of the Velut Luna Masterclone family. The disc uses a 24K gold reflective layer, a material valued for its high chemical stability and resistance to oxidation compared with conventional aluminium reflective layers. This advantage concerns the construction and preservation of the physical medium; sound quality depends on the master and on the complete recording, mixing and mastering chain.

Each copy of this edition is individually made, one by one, and this title is limited to only 50 copies. Masterclone 24K GOLD CD™ also includes the Hi-Res File 88.2kHz • 24bit, which remains available separately as an independent digital variant.

Synths on Tape: electronics, cinema and period instruments

The project pays tribute to the sonic language of 1980s independent cinema. Andrea Valfrè uses original period keyboards and samplers to recreate that distinctive electronic imagery, alternating reinterpretations of famous film themes with original pieces composed in the same aesthetic universe. The synthetic textures are joined by the real guitars of Diego Petris and the guest solo voices of Franca Cristofoli, Chiara Pastò and Vittorio Matteucci.
