41 years between the two of them...
Giuditta Franco is a singer who has just turned 21, born into a family of musicians, who has probably always sung, but who also decided to train her voice by studying at the Conservatory.
The beauty of her velvety timbre, aided by impeccable vocal technique, reminds us of a forgotten, storytelling style, for which some of the greats of the past even created a precise definition for this way of singing: "crooner." And these greats range from Frank Sinatra, to Nat "King" Cole, to Tony Bennet, but also, on the female side, from Lena Horne, to Rosemary Clooney, to the very famous Diana Krall and Norah Jones.
Giuditta sings with a deep, velvety timbre, characterized by persuasive low notes and sparkling, firm, and never aggressive high notes, thus accompanying you into a dimension of true music, harmonically complex, melodically enchanting. All characteristics that find authentic exaltation and full appreciation in the great repertoire of classic bossa nova.
Pietro Pasinato is no less. A 20-year-old, excellent guitarist who, alongside rigorous academic studies at the Conservatory, has always maintained curiosity and dedication to other musical genres, primarily jazz, Brazilian music, and why not, with a nod to rock and blues.
His technique is unrivaled; it is a "metabolized" technique that, despite his young age, allows Pietro to focus on the nuances of the specific style he chooses to tackle each time: a kind of extremely elegant Zelig at the service of great music.
Giuditta and Pietro represent a mix as perfect as it is exclusive in today's young music scene. Far from being servants of a commercial system that would push them into completely different areas, both in terms of content and media space, they have instead chosen to ride the dangerous tiger of past masterpieces, a repertoire in which all the greats of all time have already expressed themselves.
It's a challenge that I know is already won, and it's no coincidence that I decided to capture it in an album that will make it clear to that more curious and attentive audience, far from the sirens of mass communication.
Retrato Brasileiro is the title of one of Baden Powell's most famous songs, which also perfectly describes the meaning of this album: a meaning that is even better captured intimately by the very famous song "Chega de Saudade," which means "No More Longing," and in the original lyrics is dedicated to a woman. But we want to interpret this text with a transferred meaning, dedicating the statement "No More Longing" to Great Music.
No more longing for the Great Brazilian Music of the Bossa Nova era, from all that audience tired of the plastic clichés imposed by the great media circus of contemporaneity: Great Music returns, and it does so not with an old glory on the decline, but with two very young artists who know how to breathe new life into true notes, those that will never die.
Enjoy listening!
