With this second album, Four Fried Fish reach full artistic maturity. Finally, entirely dedicated to original compositions by the group's two original leaders, guitarist and singer Flamiano Mazzaron and pianist and organist Fabio Ranghiero, the project displays a remarkable stylistic coherence while exploring the different facets of modern blues.
There are essentially three “directions” taken by the group in this precious album.
The first, that of the most mainstream blues, the electric blues of Chicago, a direct and legitimate child of the Delta blues, well exemplified by songs such as “Call me, Little Sun” or “Doggy Style”.
Then there is a slightly funky turn, with sounds that echo the metropolitan sound of the 70s, well described by “Tear my mask”.
And finally, the part we at Velut Luna love most, which embraces the most cutting-edge American trends of the moment: a sort of fusion of classic blues and modern country. "Going Down" is the perfect synthesis of this style, which finds an illustrious "brother" in the US, Ryan Bingham, whose wonderful debut album, "Mescalito," is a perfect "brother in arms" in this splendid crusade in the evolution of great American popular music.
The recording, made entirely live-in-studio by Marco Lincetto and Andrea Valfrè, using analog and digital HD machines in democratic parity, presents a phenomenal dynamic (for an album of this musical genre), not dissociated from a compactness and a remarkable impact: the classic album that invites you to turn up the volume...
