The public often associates the saxophone with more modern musical genres, from jazz to pop music, and rightly so.

But in reality, it is an instrument that has also been used to great effect in the so-called "classical" sphere, starting from the late 19th century and throughout the 20th century, up until today, especially in large-scale orchestral works, but also in so-called chamber music. Key composers such as Stravinsky, Ravel, Milhaud, and many others have captured the many nuances of the sound of this instrument, part of the brass family, enhancing both its sonic fusion when deployed in ensembles and its distinctive solo verve.

The Hello Mr. Sax Orchestra is one of the most original ensembles working today: it is composed of 14 extraordinary soloists (12 saxophones and 2 percussionists) brought together in this unique ensemble, which makes the most of the vast range of saxophones available, with 1 sopranino, 2 sopranos, 3 altos, 3 tenors, 2 baritones, and 1 bass. The various voices, from the highest to the deepest, transform a seemingly small ensemble in size and color, without lamenting the scale of a full symphony orchestra, yet suggesting distinctive and unique moods and colors.

Finally, the music of the great George Gershwin, a perfect meeting point between the stylistic features of so-called classical music and the suggestions and ideas of the popular American tradition of jazz and blues, enhances the power and emotion of the result to the maximum level.
