When a new magazine is born...

Editorial

A new magazine dedicated to Hi-Fi. And why? Was it really necessary? Perhaps these are the questions that are coming to your mind as you leaf through this very first issue of Audiophile Hi-Fi. Well, for our part, we are convinced that there was a need for it, if only for the fact that a new editorial product entering the landscape of a specific sector represents an enrichment, bringing something new and particular with it. And then, as far as we are specifically concerned, there is also another aspect: both the author of this editorial, who is also the editor-in-chief, and the publisher of Audiophile Hi-Fi, were active voices in one of the most important magazines in the sector, that Audiophile Sound created and passionately carried forward by Pierre Bolduc, who recently passed away, leaving a void in the hearts of audiophile enthusiasts.
Perhaps we are presumptuous, but also dreamers, if we state that our goal with this new publication is to continue to transmit a kind of legacy that, in our opinion, deserves to be carried forward (which is why the word Audiophile remains in the magazine's title...). So, we wanted to offer audiophiles a graphically innovative product, full of novelties, with in-depth columns, with writers capable of explaining and "scratching the surface," highlighting the pros and cons of everything that will fall under our magnifying glass and giving voice to the direct stakeholders in the sector, as in the case of Emanuele Bassetti, the owner of Audioplus - Hi End, who is the subject of the interview published in this issue, while in the next issue we will have the opportunity to talk about the extraordinary Wadax Studio System Player trio, distributed precisely by the Marche entrepreneur.
In the name of quality that is also mindful of the wallet, thanks to Alfredo Di Pietro, we delve into the examination of a product born from the ingenuity of Fabio Serblin and the fifty years of experience of Pier Giorgio Levorato, the Level Performance 3.0 stereo integrated amplifier. Enthusiasts of tube systems will find Andrea Bin's analysis of the Allnic H-5500 Pre Phono particularly interesting, while for fans of digital reproduction via PC, Giuseppe D’Agata explains how to correctly implement Roon Service on a mini-PC, in this case an ASUS NUC. Another product of absolute quality is represented by the cabling from La Sound, Paolo Marchetti's company: in this issue, I discuss a pair of unbalanced RCA EVO1 interconnect cables, which belong to the entry-level Deviank line (I should immediately point out, for those who don't know, that in the case of La Sound, the term entry-level really needs to be taken with a grain of salt), and an EVO1 USB cable which, on the other hand, is part of the top-level Olympia. Furthermore, Riccardo Mozzi presents a quality Chinese device, the Audio GD R8 HE MkIII DAC.
In the Audiophile Reflections section, two important contributions: that of Engineer Marco Manunta, who clarifies the operating classes of audio amplification circuits, and that of Riccardo Mozzi, who makes us understand the importance of the golden ratio even in the world of Hi-Fi. Accessories are no less fundamental, as demonstrated by two products from Sublima Audio Research, an excellent turntable mat and a very effective liquid for cleaning our vinyl records, as well as another article by Riccardo Mozzi dealing with the Halifax, dedicated to the fundamental acoustic treatment of listening environments. There are also news on Hi-Fi events across the Peninsula and review columns for Classical, Jazz, and Rock, in which we highlight titles that combine artistic quality and technical sound recording quality.
Speaking of sound recording, of course, the disc included with this issue will certainly please audiophiles, as it is an Audiophile Album Test, with seven tracks extracted from two Velut Luna test discs.
Happy reading!
