IV POUR DEUX VIOLONCELLES \n(Paris, 1741) \n \nSonata N. 1 in B flat Major \nSonata N. 2 in F Major \nSonata N. 3 in C Major \nSonata N. 4 in G Major \nSonata N. 5 in F Major \nSonata N. 6 in A Major \n \n1 CD \n \nCLAUDIO RONCO - EMANUELA VOZZA \n \non period instruments \n \n  \n \nCompositore eccentrico e virtuoso violoncellista al servizio del Principe di Carignano nella Parigi della prima metà del XVIII secolo, Venceslaus Spourni ci ha lasciato un ampio e interessantissimo gruppo di pubblicazioni, nelle quali troviamo sinfonie, concerti e Burlesques per strumenti pastorali come la ghironda e la cornamusa, e raccolte di sonate da Camera, almeno tre delle quali dedicate al suo strumento. Questa è la prima incisione assoluta dell’opera IV per due violoncelli, il cui successo è testimoniato dall’approdare della seconda di queste sonate in una fortunata raccolta di “diversi eminenti autori” pubblicata a Londra nel 1748. \n \n  \n \nEccentric composer and virtuoso cellist in the service of the Prince of Carignan in Paris in the first half of the eighteenth century, Venceslaus Spourni has left us a large and very interesting group of publications, in which we find symphonies, concerts and Burlesques for pastoral instruments such as the hurdy-gurdy and the bagpipe, and collections of chamber sonatas, at least three of which are dedicated to his instrument. This is the first ever recording of Opus IV for two cellos, the success of which is evidenced by the inclusion of the second of these sonatas in a successful collection of “several eminent authors” published in London in 1748.
