CLASSICAL: Live recording at Philharmonic Hall - Krasnoyarsk, Russia, on June 17th, 2004
Anna Serova: Viola, Filippo Faes: Piano / Conductor
This CD is not entirely dedicated to the viola, which, however, as a solo instrument is the master, on a par with the piano and above all determines the program, only apparently anthological and without connections. In fact, it starts under the banner of the viola with the Concerto in C minor for viola and string orchestra by Johann Christian Bach, to continue "logically" with Mozart, who was a friend and admirer of the Cantor's youngest son and assimilated some of his stylistic traits. The genius of Salzburg is not in the program with works dedicated to the viola, but with one of his Piano Concertos and with a very famous page, the Piccola Serenata Notturna. In the middle, between one Mozart and another, a piece from the historical twentieth century full of colors, with the viola still in the spotlight: Scenes Andaluse by Joaquin Turina, a suite conceived in an era in which the Cinderella of string instruments, thanks also to Hindemith and Bartok, had by then become a real Princess.
