Endorsed by Liszt, praised by Brahms, a friend of Vieuxtemps, Hubay is a Hungarian violinist and composer, famous in his time throughout Europe. Today he belongs to that group of artists that musicology is slowly rediscovering with success in both concert and recording practice. The present CD represents a summary of his production for violin and piano, combining elegant, Mitteleuropean taste with elements of the Hungarian tradition.
