Cinema has entered us because it is made of imagination, fantasy, dream, illusion, that is the same things that make up our lives. We are always immersed in fantasies of all kinds, from positive to negative, from cheerful to dramatic. Each, from time to time, prefers one and becomes attached, choosing the most suitable film for himself. No one can get rid of the dream. Depressed people live a fantastic version of their terrible past and their horrible future. We all reinvent our past and future every day. The events did not take place as we remember them, and nothing will happen in the way we predicted it. We have remembered dozens of different pasts and dreamed thousands of different futures. Nothing can pull us out of our fantasies, from the first day of life. I think it’s a feature of us, not a defect. It would be impossible for us to do without and continue living. Even the most pragmatic people, or even cynical ones, are taken by a fantasy, perhaps that of living in a cold, desolate world, poor in beauty and emotions, or populated by stupid or evil beings. The philosopher dreams of having clarified the situation of man in the universe, the religious person dreams of being forgiven by his god for the crap he has done and will do. Some dream of living in a world where only those who are inferior and irrelevant suffer, so that they can enjoy their wealth without embarrassment. Others still see suffering, but they live the dream of being able to fight it. Musicians live the dream of making their fellow men happy. Music listeners live in the dream that musicians are special creatures and immersed in a life full of stimuli and fulfillment. Music producers live in the dream of having produced music of the highest level, and that this will one day be recognized. I dream that one day it will be possible to meet all of us in the same place, to have a big laugh over.
