PRESENTATION OF THE PIECES BY PAOLA DIPIETROMARIA
The Toccata and Fugue in D minor BWV 565 has become the most famous over the centuries. The Prelude to the Chorale “Wenn wir in hochsten Nothen sein” BWV 641 features the beautiful melody as a solo. The Chorale was treated by Bach with beautiful musical embellishments, givung the composition a religious sense.
The Praeludium in D major by D. Buxtehude is characterized by great sound architectures and the richness and freedom of imagination. Buxtehude’s style is called “Fantastic Style”.
In this collection follows “Quia respexit” from A. Vivaldi’s Magnificat in G minor, which is a sacred cantata. We suggest listening to “Quia respexit” for soprano and organ.
Also for soprano and organ follows Handel's Largo which is the famous opening aria, "Ombra mai fu", from the opera Serse by Georg Friedrich Handel.
In Symphony No. 5 composed by me, Paola Dipietromaria, there are bright and brilliant effects togheter with expressiveness and sound effects that are the greatness and true spirituality of the organ, therefore sweetness of violas, gambas, salicionals that contrast with large reeds of rare incisiveness, accompanied by the majestic sound of the Ripieno.
In this collection the work of Padre Davide da Bergamo could not be missing. The initial part of the Suonatina in C has an extraordinarily orchestral effect. The music of Padre Davide, born Felice Moretti, had great popular success.
Arcadelt's Ave Maria. Jacques Arcadelt composed masses, motets, magnificats, lamentations, chansons and madrigals.
---
In the Elevatione in D minor, the style, language, culture and sensitivity of Padre Davide, which were Italy’s ones at the time, emerge fully.
