We gladly leave it to the words of Maestro Francesco Erle to present this spectacular live album for choir and large orchestra, a concert recorded live for the Centenary Concerts of the Vicenza Quartet Society in the Basilica of S.Felice on 19 December 2009.

“The truth is that we decided to record this concert with Marco Lincetto at the very last minute: we couldn't resist trying to film the last of a very happy series of concerts (in Verona in S.Eufemia on the 14th, in Trento in S.Francesco Saverio on the 15th, in Innsbruck in the Duomo on the 16th and in Bolzano in the Duomo on 17 December 2009) which had transformed into a succession of evenings with a performance climate of great energy and that symbiotic empathy which is so rarely created between conductor, orchestra and choir. English: The previous summer I had proposed to Giorgio Meneghini a courageous program that represented the latest version of a simple but virtuous idea, the concerts begun many years earlier at the Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice that the title “Choral Fireworks” summarized as an act of particular musicological belief: the writing of the great composers in spreading the strong colors of the large choirs with orchestra was at the same time sufficient on the one hand to create programmatic unity and scientific interest, and on the other an occasion of great enjoyment for an audience that found itself in front of what, from the performers' point of view, was a sparkling marathon of virtuosity and very strong expressions. As can be seen from the list of pieces, in every way I had wanted to respect the liturgical propriety of the texts, and to crown the effort I had also attempted a personal effort-enterprise that was also risky if you like, to spread a scientifically correct orchestral version of the parts most suitable for the Te Deum concert that the very young Mendelssohn had left written only for double choir and a basso continuo, not even completed. The evening captured on the disc, having overcome the difficulties of a heavy snowfall, reveals itself as a photo that only with courage we would have hoped to be able to take, warm in its colors, full of life and truth of phrases and sound as only a truly live disc can give. The decision to print the CD therefore came last, with the surprised and then convinced listening of this sound album by the artists, the organizers and the record company. We now hope that the disc, in addition to bringing you our most fervent wishes, will meet with your approval as it then met with great enthusiasm from the public in churches, and in the criticisms of the newspapers.”
