This album is my homage to a composer and pianist I deeply love, Sergei Rachmaninoff. Beauty in the broadest sense of the term – of nature, of a face, of the scent of the winter wind – has been the inspiration for all the pieces presented here. The assiduous search for this beauty, for the ideal harmony at the ideal moment, for the form and logic of each piece's structure, for contrasts, melodies, and lively dancing notes, led me to a careful and lengthy work on the most meticulous details, often entirely revolutionizing what was, in favor of the uncertainty of the new. Each puzzle piece was meticulously crafted and adapted to the image as a whole. None of these works are written on paper but, as is my custom, were composed and "written" in my mind. This process allows me, literally, to observe the small pieces and the large pieces from a privileged vantage point, where I can play with the various pieces, recombining them as I please, creating a vast number of possible solutions. It is this same vantage point, similar to what one experiences from the top of a mountain peak, or a skyscraper, that allows me to choose the set of elements that, in my opinion, achieve the most beautiful form.
