HERBERT VON KARAJAN
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Among the seminal recording experiences of the twentieth century, it's impossible to ignore the one linking Herbert von Karajan and Tchaikovsky. Indeed, it could be said that, along with Beethoven, the Russian composer was by far the composer most recorded and analyzed by the great Austrian conductor. The box set we present contains the celebrated Columbia recordings of the 1950s and 1960s, characterized by a searing and overtly emotional approach, in which nothing of Tchaikovsky's hypersensitive and often turbulent world is lost. They belong to Karajan's central period and remain among his finest achievements in this repertoire, even when compared with the recordings he made in later years.
