In compiling this CD, we aimed to select the most representative works of the diverse stylistic trends that animated Lombard symphonic music during the years of French occupation. This intends to be a grand tableau that, without any claim to exhaustiveness, helps the listener to form an idea of the music that was heard in the theatres, churches, educational institutions, and celebrations of Milan in the early 19th century
