Notes

Teresa Trevisan, Flavio Zaccaria, piano 4 hands Rec. Zanta, May 2005, 24bit / 96 kHz digital recording

Two rarely heard works by the great late-Romantic German composer. The Suite, Op. 16, is a transcription of an earlier work by the same composer, composed for organ and dedicated to J.S. Bach. The piece echoes motifs so dear to German Romanticism, all directed toward the Transcendent and the creation of music that reflects the perfection of the eternal. The Six Pieces, Op. 94, splendidly demonstrate Reger's extraordinary mastery of the harmonic and contrapuntal resources offered by the minor mode. In short, a profound and intense recording characterized by solemn sonorities further enhanced by the authoritative interpretations of Teresa Trevisan and Flavio Zaccaria and the sumptuous sound of the Steinway & Sons D 274 Concert Grand piano.
