In the last years of his life Walter Gieseking made a very large number of engravings for Walter Legge's Columbia, above all the monumental edition of the works omnia Mozart's piano works were also fundamental, and his versions of Debussy's piano masterpieces were also fundamental. However, Ravel, Beethoven, Schubert, and Schumann also gave the great German pianist the opportunity to produce recordings that were historic from the moment they appeared. This edition is primarily dedicated to the Impromptues and to Moments Musicalaux by Schubert, of which we believe Gieseking gave one of the truly immortal interpretations in the history of the Romantic piano.
