ALESSANDRO MERCANDO, piano
This CD is dedicated to Brahms's most personal vein, to that musical intimacy that resides in him from the works of his youth to those of his extreme old age. Despite the chronological distance between the works presented, a common thread links them: a taste for a spare writing style that evokes solemn and tragic atmospheres; a profound lyrical sweetness; a sense of pressing and inexorable destiny; a certain almost disconcerting irony and wit; but, above all, a calm and resigned melancholy that reveals his deepest voice.
This CD is dedicated to the most personal vein of Brahms, that is, some musical intimacy that has dwelled in his works from his youth to his old age. Despite the great chronological distance between the two groups of works, a thin red thread connects them: the taste for a lean writing style that evokes solemn, tragic atmospheres, the deep lyrical sweetness, the sense of pressing, inexorable fate and above all, a calm, resigned melancholy which reveals his deepest voice.
