THE SINGER AT THE MICROPHONE by Eugenio Finardi

The record project "Il Cantante Al Microfono" (The Singer at the Microphone) bridges the gap between singer-songwriter music and contemporary classical music, starting from the great Russian actor, poet, and singer-songwriter Vysotsky, who tragically died in 1980. Vysotsky understood and sang the true soul of his people and was therefore harshly opposed by the Soviet regime. His music, with intriguing melodies, sometimes with a Balkan flavor, sometimes with oriental tones, and sometimes echoing ancient waltz rhythms, accompanies his sharp and incisive lyrics. From his corpus of over 500 songs, Eugenio Finardi and Filippo Del Corno have chosen about ten titles that are highly representative of the ethical, spiritual, and political tension, as well as the corrosive irony, that animates Vysotsky's work. The songs, already translated into Italian by Sergio Secondiano Sacchi, have been orchestrated for the instrumental ensemble Sentieri Selvaggi by Del Corno himself, in a version that highlights the very high poetic and musical quality of Vysotsky's verses and allows for the full deployment of Eugenio Finardi's extraordinary interpretative power. For some time, Finardi has been combining his activity as a leading figure in Italian singer-songwriter rock with a deep and rigorous vocal research, which will astonish those who are not familiar with his journey from fado to his beloved blues, and then to contemporary classical music. The graphics, curated by Studio Convertino, are extremely refined. In short, this project perfectly aligns with the production philosophy that Velut Luna has always offered: originality in artistically and technically high-quality proposals.
