Alla fine degli anni ‘90, Emilia Vecchi - intellettuale, umanista e appassionata di canto - decise di realizzare un album musicale concept, dedicato al mondo della notte, nella sua anima più dolce e sognante. Con l’aiuto di Marco Lincetto selezionò una serie di celebri canzoni, attingendo dal mondo del pop e del rock internazionale e italiano; e affidò quindi questi brani al compositore e arrangiatore Oscar Del Barba. Ben noto a livello internazionale per le sue non comuni qualità musicali di autore e interprete e per il suo particolarissimo stile compositivo che sa mescolare con inusuale ricercatezza ed eleganza gli stilemi classici con quelli del jazz e della musica popolare, il Maestro Del Barba realizzò una partitura musicale inedita, omogenea ed unitaria, in cui due differenti organici strumentali, atipici e fra loro quasi agli antipodi, diedero vita ad un’opera che nel momento stesso in cui venne scritta, diventò già un classico senza tempo, bellissimo e al tempo stesso affascinante anche per la sua estrema difficoltà per chiunque volesse cimentarsi nel canto. Venne quindi registrata questa base strumentale su cui successivamente la stessa Emilia Vecchi, dopo un lungo percorso di studio, cantò i testi originali per un disco che venne pubblicato nel 2003 dall’etichetta Sicut Sol.
Oggi, a distanza di circa 15 anni da quei giorni, Emilia Vecchi ha “accettato di farsi rubare” i leggendari files originali delle basi strumentali dalla giovane, ma già stimata cantante Beàs, per questo suo primo disco da solista, non a caso intitolato “Stolen Diamonds”.
Con questa operazione Emilia Vecchi e Marco Lincetto trasferiscono nel mondo della cosiddetta musica “non classica” quella che è invece una consuetudine per il mondo della musica classica, ovvero la reinterpretazione di una partitura in qualche modo “scritta” (nel nostro caso anche già parzialmente registrata). Le basi strumentali, registrate nel 2002, sono infatti state remixate da Marco Lincetto per armonizzarle alla voce di Beàs, che ha cantato oggi i testi, offrendone un’interpretazione giustamente nuova e originale. La magia della Grande Musica che rinasce e muta ogni volta che un grande interprete la ripropone.
In the late ‘90s years, Emilia Vecchi - Italian scholar and amateur singer - decided to produce a musical concept album, based upon the theme of the “Night”, according especially to the dreaming soul of it.
She selected few songs among famous pop and rock hits with the help of the producer Marco Lincetto and then she asked the composer Oscar Del Barba to write a totally new arrangement of these songs. Well known all over the world for the extraordinary quality and originality of his work, Maestro Del Barba wrote a completely new score, that mixes different styles from Classical, to Jazz, to World Music. The result was a score that became “a classic” exactly when it was written...: fascinating even due to extreme difficulty for any voice that would try to sing it. In the early 2000s years the score was recorded by Marco Lincetto and afterwards Emilia sang and recorded the original texts of the songs into the new score written by Del Barba, for the Italian indipendent label Sicut Sol (very good “friend” of Velut Luna...).
Now Emilia Vecchi “agreed to be stolen” the legendary files from Beàs, young singer, but already hold in high regard, for her first solo album, whose title is not by chance “Stolen Diamonds”. This project is not a “cover album”, but you can listen to a new performing of a fixed, written, score, such as you can listen to thousands and thousands performing of Classical Music: but it is NOT exactly Classical... For the very first time ever...
