This CD is not entirely dedicated to the viola which, however, as a solo instrument dominates, like the piano, and above all determines the program, only apparently anthological and without connections. It begins with the viola with Johann Christian Bach's Concerto in C minor for viola and string orchestra, to continue "logically" with Mozart, who was a friend and admirer of the youngest son of the Cantor and assimilated some of his stylistic traits. The genius of Salzburg is not on the program with works dedicated to the viola, but with one of his Piano Concertos and with a very famous piece, the Little Night Music. In between, between one Mozart and another, a colorful piece from the historical twentieth century, with the viola still in the spotlight: Joaquin Turina's Andalusian Scenes, a suite conceived in an era when the Cinderella of string instruments, thanks also to Hindemith and Bartok, had already become a true Princess.
