A consolidated tradition of the 19th century was the "paraphrase" of great symphonic and operatic themes for piano or small chamber ensembles, such as the classic violin, cello and piano trio present in this selection. The purpose was obviously to bring music for large ensembles into private homes, in an era when mass media such as radio, television and records themselves did not exist. Here are some very famous pages by Bellini, Rossini, Donizetti, interpreted by the Ensemble U.Giordano, composed of Dino De Palma on violin, Francesco Montaruli on cello and Gianna Fratta on piano, with the valuable contribution of soprano Ida Fratta and baritone Cuneyt Unsal
